New R&D project focused on graphene-based functional additive in protective paint with Swedish SAAB

[Stockholm, Sweden, 14 May 2018] A new R&D project focused on the development of graphene-based functional additive in protective paint for the aviation industry was approved by the Sweden’s innovation agency VINNOVA. The project will be implemented jointly by Swedish defence and security manufacturer SAAB and Danubia NanoTech with support from Linköping University.

The idea of this joint project is to introduce graphene into existing paint used for coating of aircraft and thus enable new functionalities. Graphene could enable electrical and thermal conductivity which can enable imbedded lightning strike protection and de-icing systems.
